Free Trade Hall (September 29, 1870)
Description
This was Carreño's debut concert in Manchester, England at the Free Trade Hall. She performed Grand Fantasia on Airs from “'Faust” (Liszt, Franz; arr. Gounod, Charles), Rondo capriccioso (Mendelssohn, Felix), Caprice polonaise (Une revue à Prague) (Carreño, Teresa). Additional artists included Madame Adelina Patti, Madame Patey, Signor Urio, Signor Delle-Sedie, Signor Foli, Signor Zoboli, and M. Strakosch (conductor). Carreño performed on an Erard piano. The concert began at 7:30 pm. Tickets were priced as follows: Boxes, £5 5s and £6 6s Reserved Seats, 10s 6d; Gallery, 5s; Body of the hall, 2s 6d.
